The Brookland Bearcats football program started in the summer of 2008. In the first season, there were 74 players and 3 coaches (Kelly Mills, Mike Stephenson, and Brandon Parsons). They started off with a 7th and 8th grade team. The 7th grade team played 9 games with 3 wins. The 8th grade team played 10 games with 2 wins. In 2008-2009, the Bearcats played in conference 3A-3, but in 2010, they will play in conference 4A-3 with teams such as Valley View, Westside, Trumann, Highland, and more. The program is still in it's beginning stages, and Brookland is expected to have a Varsity High School team in the next 4 years or so.
